Wood pellet prices fall sharply in the Baltic States

On February 27th and 28th, 2019, the European Pellets Conference which took place in Wels, Austria gathered around 660 participants. As always, there was an overview of the global pellet markets. Europe is characterized by rising production and a simultaneous fear of supply shortages. North America is focusing more on East Asia's export of pellets.

Didzis Palejs from the Latvian Biomass Association gave an overview of the Baltic wood pellet markets. The past two years have been very volatile, and the development is very hard to predict. After a drastic price increase for wood pellets, the prices are now again in free fall.
