Pellet production in the US amounted to 406,380 tonnes of pellets for the heating market and 1,431m tonnes of industrial pellets during January-March 2018.
Also, the pellet production totaled 1.837m tonnes, according to surveys by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) at the U.S. Department of Energy.
This represents a 12.1% increase of production of pellets for the heating market and a 4.9% growth for the production of industrial pellets. Overall, pellet production rose by 6.4%, as compared to the Q1/2017.
During the mentioned period, there were 12% less pellets sold on the domestic market, amounting to 495,149 tonnes. Moreover, the sales prices declined by 1%, to $152.36/tonne.
The sales volumes of industrial pellets rose to 1.256m tonnes, almost at the same level as in the Q1/2017, while the average selling prices rose significantly by 20.2% to $169.51 per ton.
