Swanson Group has announced that it will permanently close its Glendale, Oregon, sawmill, which has been operated by the Swanson family since 1951.
Back in October 2018, the company said that the mill would be down for one week from March 4, citing log and market conditions.
According to a Random Lengths' report, Swanson said the closure was necessitated by log supply constraints forced on the company by federal timber policy.
Swanson plans to add capacity at its Glendale plywood facility and Roseburg stud mill, and will reassign all affected employees at the Glendale sawmill to local operations. The company's Springfield plywood facility is not impacted by the decision.
