Austrian Springer Group has acquired the majority share in the Finnish company FinScan. FinScan, located in Espoo near Helsinki, is a specialist for scanners and software for the automatized optimization of sawn timber in sawmills.

FinScan has installed more than 400 scanners in over 20 countries worldwide. The company produces scanning systems for sorting, damage detection and moisture measuring. Jyri Smagin stays CEO at FinScan.

Back in 2015 Springer acquired the Swedish scanner producer Woodeye. With the purchase of the Swedish lumber-scanner producer WoodEye, the company is expanding their product portfolio by camera-based image-processing systems for the wood industry.

Springer Group has been planning, developing and producing machinery and conveyor systems for the wood-processing industry since 1952.
