Softwood log exports from Russia to China declined in 2017, while hardwood shipments were up 23%
In 2017, China reduced the Russian roundwood imports by 0.8% and increased the purchases of hardwood by 23%.    Thus, the exports of softwood and hardwood logs from Russia to China reached 12.6 million m3, which represents a -0.8% year-on-year decrease, but the sales pattern changed significantly, WhatWood reports.    The export of softwood sawlog (pine, Siberian spruce, Siberian and Far East larch) from Russia went down by 7%, while the demand for cedar sawlog in China increased by 50%, to 166,000 m3.
