In January-March 2020, Latvia exported EUR 651.007 million worth of forestry products, which is a decrease of 9.2 percent against the previous year, according to information released by the Latvian Agriculture Ministry.
Timber and timber products made up the bulk or 85.2 percent (87.4 percent a year ago) of total forestry product exports in January-March, accounting for EUR 554.738 million and declining 11.4 percent year-on-year.
Sawn timber exports decreased 22 percent year-on-year to EUR 145.7 million, firewood exports accounted for EUR 116.833 million, down 7.7 percent, plywood exports reached EUR 59.597 million, up 8.6 percent from the previous year, timber furniture exports fell 5.9 percent to EUR 39.912 million, and exports of paper, cardboard and their products rose 21.5 percent to EUR 33.105 million.
In January-March 2020, Latvia supplied forestry products mainly to Estonia (14.5 percent), the UK (14.4 percent) and Denmark (10.7 percent).
Exports to Estonia increased by 9.7 percent to EUR 94.336 million, exports to the UK dropped 27.5 percent to EUR 93.437 million and exports to Denmark rose 17.2 percent to EUR 69.886 million.
In January-March 2019, Latvia exported EUR 717.07 billion worth of forestry products.
