Major Canadian forestry products companies have announced sawmill production curtailments for the month of May. All complain about the surge in log prices and the drop in lumber prices. Conifex Timber Inc. announced that commencing May 6, 2019, it is temporarily curtailing operations at its Fort St. James, British Columbia sawmill for four weeks and its Mackenzie, British Columbia sawmill for three weeks, due primarily to continued high log costs and lumber market conditions.
