During January-May 2020 Russia’s export of sawn timber made 7.3 mn tons, down 9.8% year-on-year. According to the RF Federal Customs Service’s statistics, in terms of value, sawn timber export was down 9.1% making $1.7 bn.
Logs export decreased by 21.4% year-on-year down to 5 mn cbm worth $353.8 mn, down 26.5% year-on-year.
Plywood export increased by 6.8% year-on-year to make 1.2 mn cbm worth $477.5 mn, down 2.9% year-on-year.
Wood pulp export in January-May 2020 amounted to 895.3 thousand tons, up 2.7% year-on-year worth $382.1 mn, down 22.1% year-on-year.
Newsprint export made 492.6 thousand tons, down 5.1% year-on-year, worth $169 mn, down 34.8% year-on-year.
In May, sawn timber export made 1.6 mn tons, down 11.1% year-on-year and down 2.7% month-on-month worth $362.8 mn, down 10.1% year-on-year and down 2.3% month-on-month.
Logs export made more than 1.1 mn cbm, down 13.3% year-on-year and up 17.3% month-on-month. In terms of value, it decreased by 14.2% year-on-year and grew by 17.7% month-on-month to make $81.1 mn.
Plywood export in May, made 216.8 thousand cbm, down 4.3% year-on-year and down 10.6% month-on-month. In terms of value, it increased by 0.2% year-on-year and declined by 8.7% month-on-month making to $92.3 mn.
Wood pulp export made 132.2 thousand tons, down 18.9% year-on-year and down 38.7% month-on-month. In terms of value, wood pulp export decreased by 36% year-on-year and by 38.9% month-on-month to make $59 mn.
Newsprint export grew by 16.3% year-on-year and by 20.7% month-on-month to make 106.2 thousand tons in terms of tonnage. In terms of value, it was down 18.4% year-on-year and up 18.9% month-to-month to $35.1 mn.
