Interfor curtails lumber production in Oregon and British Columbia

Interfor Corporation has declared an indefinite curtailment of its sawmill operations in Philomath, Oregon, citing persistent high log costs in the region and ongoing challenges in the lumber market. The sawmill production will be immediately curtailed, followed by a systematic wind-down of operations, expected to conclude by the end of the first quarter of 2024. The Philomath sawmill, known for producing a mix of kiln-dried and green Hemlock and Douglas-fir dimensional lumber and timbers, possesses an annual capacity of 220 million board feet.
