Gelo Holzwerk to invest in a new sawmill in Germany

Gelo Holzwerk announced EUR 38.5 million greenfield investment in a completely new sawmill location at the Wunsiedel energy park.

The company placed an order with Holtec for both plants In the area of ​​log handling (log yard / sawmill loading). The log yard is expected to enter into operation in November 2020. The sawmill feed with a cycle rate of up to 40 pieces / minute will start operating at the end of 2020.

According to the announcement, the investment is expected to secure the long-term supply of raw materials for further processing as well as the optimal use of synergies with regard to pellet production at the Wunsiedel location.

The company also expects to reduce CO2 emissions and implement ideas of  ​​“Sawmill 4.0”.
