Finnish sawmills increase output, industry calls for secure wood supply

Sawn timber production in Finland reached 10.9 million cubic meters in 2024, reflecting a 5% increase compared to the previous year, according to the Finnish Sawmill Industry Association (Sahateollisuus ry). The growth was particularly notable in the fourth quarter, driven by improved operating rates following the completion of several investments. Export volumes for January–November 2024 amounted to 6.8 million cubic meters, marking a 3% decline from the corresponding period in 2023.
