The CLT manufacturer XLam announced that it will close its New Zealand plant in Nelson. As the Australian daily The Fifth Estate reports, quoting company officials, XLam decided to close the plant as the operations were no longer considered commercially sustainable and that “a new business model” would “usher in a more commercially competitive and sustainable way for the company to supply CLT to the market.” XLam said the move would allow more efficient servicing of demand for its product in New Zealand, The Fifth Estate says.  ...
