Central African countries fails to honor timber export ban
Most members of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) have failed to comply with a log export ban enacted last year to protect forests and create jobs by processing wood locally, officials said. The six members of the Central African bloc agreed to ban log exports from January 2022. The ban is partly aimed at combating climate change by protecting forests from over-logging.
