Austrian sawmills significantly reducing supply; sawlog prices crash

The general framework conditions on the Austrian wood market are therefore extremely bad. Both sawn timber prices and the quantities sold are at a very low level. The Austrian sawmills are trying to prevent a further deterioration by significantly reducing the supply. The holiday and maintenance shutdowns that are common in the summer months are therefore being extended. Need and demand for softwood sawlogs have collapsed accordingly.
