Sales of US framing lumber slowed as winter took a toll on consumption across the continent. Snow in the Northwest and rain in California cooled off trading in the West, while the Upper Midwest, Northeast, and much of Canada were in the deep freeze. As mill sales slowed, secondaries stepped up efforts to sell from their inventories, and a two-tiered market was widely apparent.
