Metsä Group plans to stop plywood production in Suolahti, due to low profitability

Metsä Group plans to close the Suolahti birch and softwood plywood factories in central Finland. The closure is justified by the low profitability of the factories. The company has started change negotiations regarding the issue. The intention is that the production of the birch plywood factory in Suolahti would end by the end of the first quarter of 2025, and the production of the softwood plywood factory by the end of 2026 at the latest.
