EU moves to postpone EUDR after huge pushback

The European Commission has proposed delaying the implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), extending the deadlines for compliance by one year. Large companies will now have until December 30, 2025, while micro and small enterprises will have until June 30, 2026, to comply. The proposal has been submitted to the European Parliament and the Council for approval by the end of 2024. Meanwhile, the EU Commission admits that, in light of feedback from international partners on their state of preparations, it will give the parties concerned more time to prepare.
