Austria’s sawmill industry and timber trade suffer from weak construction industry & EU bureaucracy

"The sawmill industry has been holding its own in a difficult environment for almost two years," is how DI Markus Schmölzer, Chairman of the Austrian sawmill industry, describes the situation in the industry on the occasion of International Wood Day 2024 and explains: "The construction industry remains weak and our sales prices are stagnating, while the costs of raw materials, energy and personnel have risen significantly."
