Stora Enso's Wood Products division recorded 18.5% increase in operational earnings before investment, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) in Q4/2017, compared to Q4/2016.
This is the highest ever fourth quarter operational EBITA at EUR 25 million, an increase of EUR 8 million or 47.1%. Improved net mill price and the increasing share of value added to the business offset slightly higher raw material and fixed costs.
Stora Enso has made some strategic investments: Murów sawmill in Poland, laminated veneer lumber (LVL) line in Varkaus, Finland and pellet production at Ala sawmill in Sweden, which have contributed to a 6% growth in sales.
Stora Enso is currently investing in a new cross laminated timber (CLT) unit at the Gruvön sawmill in Sweden is proceeding as planned. The production is scheduled to begin during the first quarter of 2019.
