Russia expands sawn timber exports to Africa and the Middle East, due to EU sanctions
In 2022 Russia increased the supply of sawn timber to the countries of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) by 17.84%. The export volume amounted to 1.2 million m3. In total, Russian timber exporters supplied timber to 15 countries in the region. The most active growth was shown by deliveries to Iran, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan. The main volume of exports fell on Iran (379 thousand m3) and the United Arab Emirates (334 thousand m3). The redistribution of supplies is associated with sanctions pressure from the EU states. “Due to the ...
